Allied Monitor Submission Instructions

Serum ELISA (SELISA) and/or AGID

  1.  Submit 3 or 4ml of clear serum per specimen in an appropriately labeled serum
       tube and secure caps.  The use of separator tubes is acceptable. 

  2.  Pack tubes securely (no glass to glass) in a shipping box.  Insert gel ice pack(s)
       into shipping box.

  3.  Complete Allied Monitor, Inc. Test Sample Submission Form.  Place form into a
       plastic bag and insert into shipping box.

  4.  Ship next day service by courier (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc). to Allied Monitor's 
       address at bottom of page.

  5.  In most instances, we can report your SELISA results within 24 hours of sample
       receipt.  AGID results are reported after 48 hours of sample receipt.  For more
       than 300 samples, please notify us prior to shipping.

Milk ELISA (MELISA)

  1.  Our sample procedure is exactly like your DHIA sample.

  2.  Please phone ahead and we will supply sample vials (each containing one
       preservative BRONOPOL* tablet) and a styrofoam shipper at no cost**
       (pending sample volume).

      * BRONOPOL IS A TOXIC SUBSTANCE: BE CAREFUL.  Wash hands; keep
      away from children and the bulk tank.
      ** Allied Monitor, Inc. may supply the vials and the styrofoam shipper at no cost,
      the shipping charges will be billed to recipient. 

  3.  Number each vial consecutively.  Collect a sample, which is representative of all
       milk produced by one cow at one milking.  Sample cows 10 days or more after
       freshening. For bulk tank sampling, indicate the number of cows for each sample.
       Transfer approximately 30cc (1oz.) of sample into vial (do not over fill vial) and close
       lid securely. The BRONOPOL tablet will dissolve within ten minutes after milk is
       added.

  4.  Check all caps for tight closure and insert vials into styrofoam shipper.  No
       refrigeration/gel ice pack(s) are required.

  5.  Complete Allied Monitor, Inc. Test Sample Submission Form.  Place form into a
       plastic bag and insert into shipping box.

  6.  Ship next day service by courier (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc). to Allied Monitor's
       address at bottom of page.  

  7.  In most instances, we can report your MELISA results within 24 hours of sample
       receipt.  For more than 300 samples, please notify us prior to shipping.

Fecal Culture

  1.  Moldy feed should be withheld from the animal's ration for at least one week before
       sampling. Mold spores can contaminate the culture medium in the laboratory
       resulting in an inconclusive test.

  2.  Place 1/2 ounce of specimen into an appropriately labeled container (tin).  Use of a
       lubricant is not recommended.  Never retrieve the specimen from the floor or
       ground.  Secure lids with tape and insert into a shipping box.  During warmer
       weather, include gel ice pack(s) with specimens.

  3.  Complete Allied Monitor, Inc. Test Sample Submission Form.  Place form into a
       plastic bag and insert into shipping box.

  4.  Ship next day service by courier (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc). to Allied Monitor's
       address at bottom of page.

  5.  Preliminary fecal culture results can be reported in 8 weeks of incubation, if
       requested.  Definitive fecal culture results are reported after 13 weeks of incubation.
       For more than 300 samples, please notify us prior to shipping.
